INTRODUCING THE DUTCH VENOMS PT. 3: DJ DNS THE MAN

DJ DNS has been crowned three times winner of the Dutch DMC Championships (2000, 2001, 2002) and other dj battles such asTurntablized (2000) and the ITF Beatjuggle Championship (2003). He also represented The Netherlands several times during the DMC World Championships, solo (Supremacy) and with famed DJ crew ‘SL Trooperz’. Since that time he did a lot of showcases in the netherlands and abroad cities such as London, Frankfurt, Prague, Barcelona, Oslo and Brussels.

DNS was also involved in a hiphop formation called ‘Classic’ wich reached the finals of ‘Grote Prijs’ van Nederland (music award show) in the year 2000. Over the years he worked with several artists and played along with (dj) bands and bigbands and opened for artists such as DJ Premier, Dj Q-Bert, Black Eyed Peas, and Mobb Deep.

Under the name ‘Turntable Rockstars’ (with dj’s Broky B and Setiono) DNS performed during the Laid back Luke’s ‘Rocking with the Best’ tour (2007) by performing a live scratch remix of the ‘Rocking with the best’ single which landed high in the dance charts all over the world. They also performed at festivals and party’s in The Netherlands, where they play and showcase as a dj band with the use of 6 turntables. in that time he also did a lot of dj support-for acts such as ‘Keynote Speakerz’, Master Surreal and later supported Masta Ace (USA) during shows in Holland and Norway (2010)
 
After the 15 years playing, performing and producing DJ DNS has extensive experience in all possible aspects of dj-ing. DJ DNS regards his turntable as a musical instrument and describes himself as a all-round DJ and musician. He displays his skills during live shows of artists and live bands, but also uses his talent on productions and.


His deejay sets stand out because of the wide choice of musical genres (hiphop, funk, r&b, soul, breaks, and more) in combination with turntablism and scratching. That’s why he also have been seen outside the hiphop scene and regularly appears at big dance festivals in The Netherlands (such as Mystery Land, Extrema NYE, Sneakerz, Ex Porn Star and Solar Weekend Festival)

DJ DNS is now working on various projects. He performs and does deejay sets, both solo as well with his current dj crew ‘Shit is Bangin’ and Classic-Cutterz.. He also teaches dj-ing/scratching and regurlary speaks on seminars and masterclasses (SAE).

The last couple of years he’s been dj-ing for Extince (famous dutch mc and hiphop pioneer), Skiggy Rapz and Diggy Dex and regurlary tours with drummer Maximus Prime. In 2011 they played at the SXSW Festival. Austin (USA). His latest project is called ‘Superjam’ which is an explosive live party rocking showcase between Dj, Drummer and 2 MC’s.
